Meet Dr. Berry
Dr. Berry originates from the eastern part of the United States, spending most of his school-age years in the state of Delaware. After graduating from Caesar Rodney High School in Camden, Delaware he attended college at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana. While staying active in college choir, student body politics and volunteer organizations throughout college, he graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1987 with a double major of Biology and Chemistry. He then began dental studies at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry and graduated with his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1991 in the top 5% of his class.
Early in his dental school career, Dr. Berry expressed an interest in the specialty area of pediatric dentistry. He obtained extra experience in this area during his general dental studies by enrolling in electives and gaining additional clinical training that surpassed routine requirements. Upon graduation, Dr. Berry was accepted into a residency in Pediatric Dentistry at the Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. This was a two-year training program that included the performance of over 70 in-office conscious sedations, 120 cases of dental care delivery with the patient under general anesthesia and over 500 emergency room cases seen for the management of orofacial trauma, infections and pain. Rotations were also done in pediatric medicine, hematology/oncology and craniofacial anomalies. His pediatric training also gave extensive experience in delivering dental care to children with various medical problems as well as to physically and mentally handicapped pediatric and adult patients.
After completing requirement necessary to be a pediatric dentist, Dr. Berry practiced in private practices in Ohio and Pennsylvania. He than served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Public Health Service as a clinical specialist and area consultant for the Native American population in Oklahoma. Dr. Berry is currently licensed to practice dentistry in Missouri and Kansas. He is a board certified diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a member of the Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Missouri Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental Association.
Dr. Berry enjoys video games, reading and has a new-found love of running. He has run several 5K's, 10K's and half marathons. Currently he is training for his first marathon. Below is a picture of him crossing the finish line at the Walt Disney World half marathon. (He's in the bright orange top.)
